Everything you read on these pages is based on our own experience. We report our findings as we see them, without letting anyone influence us. We don’t accept any offers for advertising or partnerships that could affect our reporting.

Any suggestions?

We only make recommendations if we think we can offer you something extra for your travel planning or your stay on the island. We have to let you know where you’re in good hands and what you’d rather avoid, don’t we?

Just our personal experiences

That said, personal experiences are always a snapshot in time. We had some great experiences on one trip and some not-so-great experiences on the next visit. It also works the other way round. Punda and Mambo Beach were always deserted and empty during our visits before the pandemic, despite the high season. In the summer of 2021 (with virtually no Covid-19 on the island), the place was buzzing! Punda was hopping during the Punda Vibes, and Mambo Beach was the place to be. Just like in the “good old days,” we were told.

We’ve included both experiences in our articles. We want to give you the most realistic picture we can and wish you a great and relaxed stay at Curacao.

Please let us know here on the website, under our YouTube videos and on our Instagram and Facebook pages. Leave us a comment! What’s your experience been like? Have things changed? We’re really interested and will test it out on our next visit! Please note our netiquette.

Exceptions and snapshots

In short: there is no such thing! Well, almost not! We have very, very rarely and really only occasionally had subterranean experiences. We would love to write and publish an article the same evening – to vent our frustration and warn you.

As our impressions are always just snapshots, and we don’t want to harm anyone with our reports, we’re holding off on publishing such experiences for the time being. We’re giving everyone a second chance.

For instance, in the summer of 2021 (during the height of the pandemic), we stayed at a former flagship resort that had fallen into disrepair. We were shocked to find that none of the staff seemed to care about us, the guests, the facilities, or the cleanliness. Everything was dirty and could be booked for a high price at the time, given its supposed premium location. We don’t know whether the staff were still being paid at the time. We don’t know if the resort is still open. It’s been a rough time for the tourism industry. We’ll be back soon and will report on our findings as objectively as possible.

Advertising and our partners

We’ve got a separate article for you on the topic of advertising. In a nutshell, we have to find a way to finance this website and our work somehow. Our independence is not at risk – we promise!

We’re lucky to have great partners! Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know some lovely people on the island who can make your stay more pleasant and easier. We’ve known our partners for many years and can vouch for their reliability. It’s your vacation, so you can expect what you’re promised. You can read all about our partners in the article.

Kleines Quiz gefällig?

  • Quiz Question

Which cruise ship is currently anchored in Willemstad?

    Answer

If you are not on one of the ships yourself and already know, here are two links for you to check:

Curports – the official website of the Curacao Port Authority

Vesselfinder – shows all ships worldwide (some with photos and more detailed information)

Depending on how you look at it, it’s good to know when and how many cruise ships will be landing in Willemstad during your vacation. The capital is always very crowded. The benefit of this is that all the stores and restaurants are open.

If the mega pier in Otrobanda is already occupied, an ocean liner has to divert to the Sint Anna Bay strait. The arrival and departure is always spectacular!
