Wonderful underwater world

As soon as you put your nose under water, you immerse yourself in a world that gives you a completely different view of the diversity and beauty of our planet.

Wonderful underwater world

Have you already dived the most beautiful waters in the world and are you an active scuba diver? Or are you rather insecure and don’t actually dare put your head under water? Would you like to know what awaits you underwater on Curacao? You are right here! It doesn’t matter whether you are a professional diver or whether you can’t get used to a diving mask and a snorkel.

What awaits you underwater on Curacao? Giant tiger sharks and whales? No! Unfortunately not! We have yet to find our first shark on Curacao. And we would be happy if we finally discovered one. In the forums there are pictures and videos of two hammerhead sharks in Lagun Bay. They probably got lost there. In any case, we’ll keep looking!

Normally on Curacao you will find more small things underwater: seahorses and underwater snails that timidly cling to coral. All around there are beautiful underwater worlds with numerous intact corals, gorgonians, etc. – all just beautiful to look at. If you’re lucky, you’ll find a frog fish as a diver: very rare – a highlight!

  • Underwater love with so much gut feeling

As a snorkeler, you are happy about the numerous colorful fish that are more afraid of you than you have to be of them. In addition, these “Teletubby masks” have been around for a few years now, which save you the snorkel and cover your entire face. Even our friends who are actually afraid of sticking their heads under water got along really well and reported on their great experiences. Just try it out to see if it’s something for you.

For the hardcore divers among you: There are numerous spots that are served by the dive centers. “Mushroom Forest” with its impressing underwater world, “Blue Room” as a cave with a “blue view” and numerous other top locations. All worth diving! Wreck diving is also popular on Curacao. And there are areas that can only be dived with a special permit. Our partner Bryan (divecuracao.info) is the first address and the perfect contact for this.

What sets Curacao apart from the other diving destinations on this planet? You can dive “offshore” here. Simply take your tank (=of course with your buddy) to the beach for a few dollars and immerse yourself in your very own diving experience. For $12-15 you get a tank (Nitrox is a little bit more) and you can go into the water on one of the beaches. There is often a diving center on site that can give you a briefing. Sometimes not and you are completely on your own with your tanks. Complete freedom!

There are real highlights in various corners that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Neptune under water? A chichi or a saxophone underwater? The highlight on Curacao is certainly the beautiful turtles. At Playa Grandi in the evening you are guaranteed to be able to experience them up close, both diving and snorkeling. Please do not touch or even “chase”! You don’t want a stranger touching you, do you?

In addition to snorkeling and diving, you can swim with dolphins in a species-appropriate manner at the Seaquarium. The Seaquarium is definitely worth a visit, whether you are a diver or not. Our tip for families!

Last but not least: Go on a unique experience and dive several hundred meters deep with the Substation submarine. You will be amazed at what you can experience at this depth – if you dare.
