Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival 2025 - with Snoop Dog, Kool and the Gang and others

On August 27, 2025, this year’s North Sea Jazz Festival will open with a free concert by QUIQUE (Enrique Ebbink) at Kura Hulanda Village. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy the truly fantastic atmosphere of Kura Hulanda Village—right in the heart of Otrobanda. Around the stage (located in the square in the center of the village), there will be plenty of food, drinks, culture, and souvenirs in the colorful and inviting houses of the village. Be sure to stop by Lionfish Caribbean and visit Bagira’s gallery!

In recent years, the Jazz Festival has become arguably the most important music event in the Caribbean. World stars such as Sting, Alicia Keys, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Carlos Santana, Chaka Khan and others have already performed here. This year’s lineup includes:

  • August 27, 2025: QUIQUE at Kura Hulanda Village (free admission)
  • August 28, 2025: Gilberto Santa Rosa, Kool & The Gang
  • August 29, 2025: Gipsy Kings by Diego Baliardo, Kandace Springs, NE-YO, Paul Carrack, Ricky Martin, Ryan Castro, Sheila E. and the E-Train
  • August 30, 2025: Cimafunk, Cory Henry, Gonzalo Rubalcaba & Hamilton De Holanda with special guests Ivan Lins and Gabriel Grossi, Jacob Collier, Koffee, Snoop Dogg, Tems

Tickets are available online or at various locations on Curacao. All information can be found on the organizer’s excellent website: https://www.curacaonorthseajazz.com/en

Kura Hulanda is upside down

The small “Caribbean village,” which used to be the most famous and spacious hotel (“Kura Hulanda”) on Curacao, has been a tourist magnet since its extensive renovation, but above all, it is THE party and cultural mile for young and old, locals and tourists alike. Really great events take place here time and time again. We spent a wonderful evening here last year at a fashion show with a catwalk, live music, and delicious food and drinks. We took the opportunity to meet some of the island’s celebrities and make new contacts. Events at Kura Hulanda are not just “tourist events”; here you will find the “who’s who” of Curacao!

A free concert => don’t miss it!

If you’re in Curaçao at the end of August 2025, don’t miss this opportunity. The opening concert of the multi-day jazz festival is free. Just go with the flow, browse the shops, talk to the friendly locals (Curaçaoans or Curaçaose => What are the inhabitants of Curaçao called?) and take home the most valuable souvenir you can get: BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES!

Back to the concert: QUIQUE’s real name is Enrique Ebbink. He comes from Amsterdam and immersed himself in Latin American culture as a musician during his studies (his mother is from Colombia). Since then, he has successfully integrated reggaeton, salsa, and cumbia into his music. Millions have clicked on his songs in recent years. His central theme is “Energia,” which he gives to you and receives from his fans. Forget your worries and let yourself be carried away by wonderful Caribbean sounds. Here’s a preview on YouTube:

World Trade Center Curacao

Most of the events of the North Jazz Festival in Curacao take place in the World Trade Center Curacao. This is located in Piscadera and is therefore very central on the island. Our latest beach report “Playa Parasasa” fits perfectly with this – it’s practically within walking distance. And you can enjoy great food just around the corner at the Visserij Piscadera.

  • Quiz Question

    What is a Toko?

    Answer

A toko is a grocery store on Curacao.

Tokos are usually somewhat smaller than the large supermarkets such as Centrum, Van den Tweel or Mangusa Hypermarket. They are usually privately run and can be found in almost every locality. Sometimes they are quite inconspicuous, somewhat less inviting from the outside and the checkout area is often barred.

However, you can often get food much cheaper in a toko. Some are open longer in the evenings than the big chains.

A very special toko is the Toko Williwood.
