You will often come across this name when you study the history of Curaçao.
In 1795, a freedom fighter named Tula led the largest slave revolt on the island. The revolt started at Landhuis Knip, the manor house of the Kenepa plantation. The plantation was named after the surrounding Kenepa trees.
The leader of the slave revolt was rehabilitated by the Netherlands more than 200 years later and is considered a national hero because he fought for freedom.
The country house, which is now home to the Museo Tula, is located on the way to the two well-known beaches, Kenepa Grandi and Kenepa Chiki, in the West of Curacao.

Strictly speaking, there is also Klein Curacao and Klein Bonaire. These two secondary islands of the main island of the same name are uninhabited.
