One of our favorite restaurants on the island is Eetcafe De Buurvrouw (= eatery ‘The Neighbor’). The restaurant itself is an oversized palapa, under which there is an incredibly beautiful atmosphere. We die for the fantastic skewers with Antillan rice. An absolute recommendation!

    A palapa inn Curacao is a shade provider with a palm roof. This can be a wooden parasol, a fixed set consisting of a table, two benches and a roof or even a restaurant with a palm roof such as ‘Eetcafé De Buurvrouw‘.
    The covered, wooden seating areas on the beach are used in different ways, whether as a buffet for barbecues or chilling out with friends.

    The Divi Divi is an undemanding tree with feathery leaves that can grow on beaches in the middle of the sand.

    Typical for all Divi Divis and therefore a distinguishing feature is that all trees face south-west. This is due to the constant trade winds blowing from the north-east.

    The Divi Divi tree is the logo on the tail fins of the island-hopper airline Divi Divi Air. It connects Curacao with the neighboring islands of Aruba and Bonaire.
