In Europe, your shopping costs what it says on the price tag. Everywhere and always – that’s obvious!
In the Caribbean (and many other parts of the world), your shopping costs either the price you have to pay as a tourist (“tourist price”) or the price paid by the locals (“local price“). It is also clear that the locals do not normally earn as much money as you do as a tourist. So they usually get a much lower price that is adjusted to their income.
