  • Quiz Question

Why do people suddenly start running when the bell rings at Queen Emma Bridge?

    Answer

The bridge is about to be closed and moved to the side. Whoever wants to get to the other bank before that has to put their legs under their arms and make sure that they still manage it. Otherwise they will ride on the bridge as it swings to the side…

Alternatively, there are also the pretty-looking, cute ferry boats that transfer pedestrians from one bank to the other next to the bridge. However, this probably takes a little longer than hurrying. 😉

  • Quiz Question

How many hours time shift does Curacao have?

    Answer

In Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) it is UTC-4 for Curacao.

To give you an idea of what this means: In summer time, we in Germany are UTC+2, that is 6 hours ahead of Curacao. In winter time UTC+1 it is 5 hours.

UTC and GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), which you are probably more familiar with, are identical in terms of calculating the time difference, but UTC has replaced GMT. Both refer to the prime meridian, which passes through the London district of Greenwich.
