The indigenous people of Curacao were the Arawak, also known as the Taino. They lived on the islands before the Caribs arrived from South America.

At the Hotel Kura Hulanda Lodge & Beach Club, in the far west of the island, you can find out some information about the Arawak. The hotel lobby houses historical exhibits from the time before colonization.
