Why is the strait between Punda and Otrobanda called St. Anna Bay?

The Spaniards landed in the bay between the two current parts of the city in 1499 on Saint Anna’s name day (= 26th of July).
This is why they called the bay “Bahia de Santa Ana”, in Papiamentu Sint Annabaai.

St. Anna Bay is the strait that separates the two districts of Willemstad, Punda and Otrobanda, and is also the entrance to the harbor
