The translation of the term once again reveals Papiamentu as a mixed language:
bolo=cake from Portuguese and manteca=butter from Spanish.
In Papiamentu, the “de” becomes “di” and the “c” is replaced by a “k”.Bolo di manteca is a butter cake – the basic recipe is a pound cake made with wheat flour.
Bolos are moist and yummy and keep for several days in the fridge. They are available in all supermarkets in many different varieties – we have eaten them plain, in 3 colors, as marble cake and also with chocolate chips.You can’t go wrong with that choice for your children.

Sun, palm trees and the sea can be found on all tropical islands…
But typical for the vegetation and the dry climate on Curacao is the Kadushi cactus. Its arms branch out from a stem, which makes it more aesthetic than other cacti. It is also edible and therefore serves as a source of food (Dushi Kadushi soup). A Kadushi cactus often stands alone on a hill – behind it only the turquoise blue sea, the sky and the sun. This image has burned into our memory so much that we have created our logo from it.
Our logo colors also reflect the colors of the Curacao flag: dark blue and yellow.
